“Proud Conservative Latina” and decorated Air Force veteran Anna Paulina Luna announced Monday that she’s running in 2020 against Democratic Rep. Charlie Crist in Florida’s 13th congressional district. Luna’s announcement video underscores that ‘pull yourself by the bootstraps’ mentality.”Where I grew up, kids couldn’t just leave. We had to fight our way out,” said Luna,”My grandmother died of heroin use, my family fought addiction many of them ended up homeless.”
Luna’s ‘way out’ was joining the U.S. Air Force when she was 19. There, she excelled in all categories, rose to the top of her class and met her husband, who was later shot and injured while serving in Afghanistan.
In her announcement, Luna said she’s fighting for our veterans, “I saw firsthand how previous presidents had put our fighting men and women at risk and I knew that supporting President Trump was non-negotiable,” Luna continued, “As you can see, I’m sure as hell not a politician. I won’t ever stand here and lie to you.”

Luna’s always been a strong voice for Hispanic conservatives. She worked closely with Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA and served as Vice President of Bienvenido USA, a Hispanic conservative activist group. If elected in 2020, Luna hopes to promote values of “life, our borders, our families, our God-given rights, our country.”
Florida’s 13th is painted blue. In 2016, the majority of constituents voted for Hillary Clinton. Crist won 57.6 percent of the vote.
