It seems like everything Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has done since being elected to Congress has been to get attention.
Her outlandish comments that President Trump is “racist,” her announcement of a “self-care” break, her ideas about the costs of health care, her dancing videos.
Mostly her stunts have drawn praise from the left. Until now.
Colby Hall at Mediaite is reporting that liberal activist and Hollywood personality Whoopi Goldberg, the stage name for Caryn Elaine Johnson, is lashing out her.
“You don’t have to be born into it. You don’t have to know it when you step out, but before you start pooping on people and what they’ve done, you got to do something too,” Goldberg said.
It came after the newcomer to Congress was on “60 Minutes,” and made some comments about establishment Democrats.
“Anderson Cooper asked Ocasio-Cortez about her previous intentions to support Democratic primary candidates to unseat incumbent Democrats, which the 60 Minutes correspondent and CNN host noted as ‘politically dangerous tactics,'” the report said.
“Ocasio-Cortez replied, ‘It’s absolutely risky. It requires risk to try something new, but so we — we know so much of what we’ve tried in the past hasn’t worked, either.'”
Many perceived that as a shot directly at establishment Democrats, the report said.
Goldberg’s response: “But it is very, very difficult when people make accusations where you say, you know, the Democrats have done nothing, the establishment of the Democrats have done nothing,” Goldberg said. “And I just want to throw this out to you. John Lewis wasn’t sitting still. Dianne Feinstein wasn’t sitting still.
“There are a whole bunch of people in the Democratic Party who have been busting their —es to make sure that women get what they need, people get what they need, children get what they need.”
The actress continued, “So you just got in there and I know you got lots of good ideas, but I would encourage you to sit still for a minute and learn the job. … You don’t have to be born into it. You don’t have to know it when you step out, but before you start pooping on people and what they’ve done, you got to do something too.”
In the few weeks since her election, Ocasio-Cortez has been boasting of being “radical,” called the president “racist,” called a time-out from her busy schedule for a personal vacation, lost a House fight over a “Paygo” plan, and more.
She’s also snapped at a longtime ranking Democrat, compared her election to a moon landing, bragged about how Democrats want to control the “3 chambers of Congress,” (there are 2, the House and Senate), and talking about her own “inauguration.”
She’s also threatened to get rid of the Electoral College and flirted with the idea of running for president.
Meanwhile, her politics are almost straight party-line socialist.
