World War II veteran and former US Senator and Republican Presidential candidate Bob Dole, 95, was helped out of his wheelchair on Tuesday to salute George H.W. Bush.
People gathered in the Capitol Rotunda on Tuesday to pay respects to former President George H.W. Bush after he passed away Friday night at the age of 94.
An aide helped wheelchair-bound Bob Dole to his feet so he could pay respects to Bush.
Dole appeared to hold back tears as he saluted the former President and fellow WW II veteran.
Bob Dole and George H.W. Bush remained friendly over the years despite fighting for the Republican primary nomination in 1988.
Mr. Dole was defeated by Bill Clinton in the 1996 presidential election; many people blamed the “spoiler” Ross Perot for Clinton’s victory.
Americans were touched by Bob Dole’s tribute on Tuesday.
